No Shows This Week!

Hey all!

I decided to not have any shows this week. I will resume next week.

Since this is a holiday week, I was going to do the feminism
show today and not do a show on Thanksgiving, but I have decided to take the entire Thanksgiving week off from the show.

I'll update the blog with info on next week's shows. I may even change the time of the shows as well.

Miss Representation

Hello all!

I'm glad you joined me for yesterday's broadcast at 5pm EST on the topic of the documentary "Miss Representation."

"Miss Representation" is a documentary that was written, produced, and narrated by Jennifer Siebel Newsom, whose name I could not remember on yesterday's show. The documentary first aired on television on the OWN Oprah Winfrey Network the week of October 16th 2011. 

If you'd like to catch the documentary check your local listings of the OWN channel to see when it's coming on again, invite some your besties and have a screening and a discussion forum afterwards. Make a party of it.

This documentary is all about how girls and women are misrepresented in the media - all types of media - music, videos, movies, news, television shows, and politics. Check it the site. Click HERE. 

It expressed views from a diverse group teenage girls and boys and women - well-known and general public. I shared my favorite touching moments from the documentary on the radio show. 

I also talked about the importance of communication about our feelings as women and particularly, listening to the teenage girls around you and pay attention to what they really saying through their behaviors and attitudes.

Open lines of communication is the key here.

New Show & Announcement

Hello everyone,

Today's show was short and to the point. I started off with reiterating Jennifer's loving departure from the show and went on to discuss to the new energy surrounding Soul SiSTARs from this day forward.

One of my passions as a woman of color has been to contribute to the well-being in some way or another to girls and women all over the world. Therefore, I decided to use the radio show for this purpose.

I had an embarrassing, somewhat scary moment right in the middle of talking on the show while walking down Main street. A huge dog ran towards a fence barking at me. It startled me and all that was caught on the radio. Oh well! I'm alive. The dog is alive.  It's all good.

The regular show gets started again on Thursday 11/17/11 @ 11am EST.  I will be talking about a very moving documentary that I watched on OWN called Miss Representation about the images of girls and women in the media. 

Next Tuesday, I'll be giving an overview of feminism and my thoughts on it as a necessity these days to help raise awareness of the needs of all females and the consciousness of all girls and women. 

Of course, next Thursday on the 24th it's Thanksgiving. So I will not be doing a show at all. I will be feasting like all of you.

Updates & 11-11-11 Shifting Gears

Hello all!

Today I started the show for 11/10/11 with some updates. First of all, Jennifer Wardlaw will no longer be a part of the Soul SiSTARS radio show.  She is moving on her path to something different. So let's wish her well and send her lots of light and healing energy as she moves forward on her path.

Today's show was a tricky one because I have studied lots of info on 11-11-11 and what I felt guided to talk about today was more about the angelic perspective of the numbers and the metaphor I believe it stands for.

The Universe is always sending us reminders about where we should be on our individual and collective paths. 

Keep in mind that the number 1 is about oneness, union (unity), and wholeness. From an angelic perspective, 1 or 11 is about paying close attention to our thoughts as they manifest our desires more quickly than ever before as of late.

Fatherless Children

Tonight I was joined by Charles Fox, who discussed with me a very important topic, "Fatherless Children." 

While we did not go over lots of statistics, in his line of work, Charles deals with young people daily.  He has seen firsthand the affects of young people who grow up without a father in the home.

One thing we discussed is how angry our young people seem to be and perhaps, they do not know why. 

We touched on how our relationships with our parents, or lack thereof, seems to shape our relationships with ourselves and with others throughout lives for better or for worse. 

While I did not advocate blaming the parents, I do feel that our relationships with our parents are key in our how develop our self-worth, including self-respect and self-love. 

We also discussed how important it is for young girls and young women to have a positive male role model in their lives if they did not grow up with a father in the home.  We tend to discuss the male issues, but females go through their own set of issues as a result of having a healthy relationship with their fathers or any males. 

Charles also mentioned that fatherless children is issue in many communities. 

I shared my own personal experiences with having a stepfather in the home but this didn't mean he was there mentally and emotionally. We both agreed that this is an interesting dynamic in the home as well.

Meditation Music Day

Our show for this past Thursday (9/22) was an excellent meditation music day.  I played two African Drumming Circle mp3s.

In between the songs, I pulled an archangel oracle card by Doreen Virtue, which was Chakra Clearing.  This suggested to get some energy healing work done such as massage, Reiki session, or meditation.

After the second song, I pulled a tarot card for everyone. It was the Page of Cups, which suggested that a message or messages of love would be coming to everyone that day and during the weekend from one or more people.  I also suggested that everyone listening be that person to send a loving message to someone that day.

Meditation Music Day

On this morning's show (9/8/11), I played two wonderful and very different meditation songs for our listeners. 

I started off the show with Ray Lynch's meditation song, The Temple, which is a beautiful instrumental perfect for sitting and walking meditation, yoga, or tai chi/qigong. 

Then, I offered the 48th Verse of the Tao Te Ching, which says:

Learning consists of daily accumulating,
The practice of the Tao consists of daily diminishing;
decreasing and decreasing, until doing nothing,
When nothing is done, nothing is left undone.

True mastery can be gained,
by letting things go their own way.
It cannot be gained by interfering.

Then, I shared the song, Karuna Sagari Ma, by C.C. White, whose CD, This is Soul Kirtan, was released today during Bhakti Fest at Joshua Tree.  Check out her website for a free download of the same song I played on the show here ~ http://www.soulkirtan.com/.

Third Eye Chakra & the 4 Clairs

On Thursday (8/25/11) night's show, I talked about the third eye and the 4 clairs - clairvoyance, clairaudience, clairsentience, and claircognizance. 

The third eye chakra is located between your two physical eyes. It's color association is indigo and it is the seat of intuition, insight, and even physically helps with your eyes, face, sinuses, and ears. 

To help clear and balance this chakra, you can chant, OM (aum).  Check out the broadcast to hear me demonstrate it.

I enjoyed discussing the 4 clairs:

• Clairvoyance - the intuitive ability to see
• Clairaudience - the intuitive ability to hear
• Clairsentience - the intuitive ability to feel
• Claircognizance - the intuitive ability to know

Divine Feminine & the Sacral Chakra

Hello everyone!  Jennifer and I just completed part 2 of the Yin/Yang and Divine Feminine energies series a few moments ago on Blog Talk Radio.  We had a blast! 

We shared information on the Sacral Chakra, which is located between the navel and base of the spine or groin area.  The color of it is orange. It spins in a clockwise motion when it is balanced. So naturally you should visualize your sacral chakra spinning. The Sacral Chakra is associated with the Earth element, which is also a part of the Yin energies that we discussed on Thursday night's show as well.  So it is associated with feminine energies/qualities/aspects.

As for the Divine Feminine, we had a wonderful time talking about Mother Earth (Gaia) and how she needs our love and attention.  There is nothing wrong with revering the Earth and all of nature.  Heal the Earth, we Heal ourSelves.

We discussed the Triple Goddess, which is the Maiden, the Mother, and the Crone.  This triple deity or Feminine Holy Trinity represents the cycle of life as well as the cycle of the moon. 

Maiden - Birth - Waxing Moon
Mother - Life - Full Moon
Crone - Death/Rebirth - Waning Moon

By honoring Goddesses or Female Deities, we are honoring that part of ourselves that embodies those same qualities.  Thus, we heighten our divine feminine energies, which can heal the world. 

We talked about how particularly women of color and women in general are in need of embracing their feminine qualities and energies. 

Some suggestions for embracing the Divine Feminine:

Bellydancing
Chakra Clearing (Sacral Chakra)
Yin Yoga

Yin and Yang Energies Show

Hey yall! So tonight was a very exciting topic.  Tameko aka Ms. Energy lol and I loved doing this show.  It was on Yin and Yang energies.  It was the first part of a series we are doing this week.  Tomorrow night at 11 PM EST will be our show on the Divine Feminine and the Sacral Chakra (my favorite...ORANGE..yay! lol)  So tune in tomorrow night for that one!


So as a recap of tonight's show on Yin and Yang energies, SiSTAR Tameko and I talked about:

-The importance of embracing both Yin AND Yang energies.

-How embracing both energies leads to peace, balance, wholeness, and harmony.

-Yin: Dark, Slow, Yielding, Water, Earth, Cold, Passive, femininity, night time, the Moon.

-Yang: Light, Fast, Aggressive, Fire, Sky, Hard, Solid, Masculinity, day time, and the Sun.

-That Yin and Yang are complete opposites yet perfectly equal.

-Dualities and Nonduality/ONEness

-Daoism and Tameko read verse 4 from the Dao Te Ching.  You can research furthermore on Daoism on wiki or http://taoism.about.com/

-Tameko shared some techniques that help in balancing Yin and Yang like the art of Qigong.

-Tameko also shared a technique where you can look up a picture of the Yin-Yang symbol and use it for a meditation by staring at it for about 5-10 minutes.  This will help with balancing the two energies within.

-Lol Tameko was on fire tonight because she also shared an affirmation that came through to her which was "I AM in Balance. I AM in Harmony. I AM at Peace."

Staying True to You Part 1&2

Hey everyone! : )  So this week we did our first 2 parter show.  We were really excited for that! The first part was on Thursday and was about staying true to you in the midst of societal expectations or expectations from family and friends.  Some things we talked about during Part 1 were:

-Having a good sense of self esteem and empowering ourselves.

-Speaking up about any abuse we have been through and bringing it up the Light so we can move forward.

-Loving and embracing every aspect about yourself (physical, emotional, mental, etc)

-Letting go of comparing yourself with other people (friends, family, the media, society in general).

-Living for YOU and not for people's approvals.

-Making your JOY top priority. Letting go of needing to be "right" by other people's opinions.

-And having the COURAGE to unveil the mask you have been hiding behind and "coming out of the closet" in all aspects!

So tonight on part 2 we focused more on the Spiritual aspect and talked a little about our Spiritual journeys.  Tameko started the show off by talking about the beautiful and insightful video she did called "Many Roads One Destination":

Some of the things we talked about tonight on Part 2 were:

-All paths in Life (religious or not) are okay because it is the Path for You.  If we all are going to a destination of "6" then it doesn't matter how we add it up, 1+5, 4+2, 3+3 because it all adds up to and leads to "6."

-Trusting in your heart for guidance.  Listening to this guidance in meditation or stillness.

-Everyone is a Spiritual Being playing the role of a human right now.

-Seeing through the illusions we hold onto to see our true radiant nature.

-Allowing yourself to explore different religions, teachings, etc. Not keeping yourself in a box.

-Tameko shared a meditation tip.

Being at a Crossroads in Life

This past Thursday's show was an amazing one.  Jennifer and I talked about our personal journeys in regards to being at a crossroads in life.  We offered several tips on how handle being at a crossroads in life. 

*Honor where you are on the path. 
*Don't resist it.
*Be gentle with yourself at the crossroads.

And these are just a few of the tips Jennifer and I shared on the show.  We had such a great time sharing on this topic. 

We explained how being at a crossroads can mean different things for everyone.  Yet, we find that it's usually about letting go of the old to embrace the new.

Following Your Dreams ~ Meditation Video

Our 1st Broadcast!

Jennifer and I had a blast on Thursday night with our very first broadcast together.  We touched base on what everyone can expect from us on the show.

We discussed the Full Moon energies as of late and how they were affecting us.  We even talked a little bit about the shifts that are happening globally and how it is a reflection of what is going on with us on a deeply personal level.

Also, Jennifer shared some of the interesting topics we have lined up for everyone on future shows such as:
